2007 NASCAR Samsung 500 2007 NASCAR racing takes a break over the Easter weekend but returns to the track in Texas next weekend for the Samsung 500. Jimmie Johnson locked up his third win of the season at Martinsville last weekend in the Goody?s Cool 500. Johnson beat Jeff Gordon by a nose (or a fender actually) at the finish line, but the second-place finish was enough to keep Gordon on top of the drivers standings. Gordon leads Jeff Burton by 28 points, while Johnson sits 60 points back in third spot. Picking the winner in Texas may be more difficult then it was in Martinsville. The Samsung 500 has been run 12 times and each time a different driver has claimed the checkered flag. Last year the fastest driver was Kasey Kahne, while the year before that it was Greg Biffle. Both Kahne and Biffle are in desperate need of a win this weekend after getting off to very slow starts to the season. The Texas Motor Speedway also plays host to the Dickies 500 but previous results from that race won?t be much help to bettors, as it has only ever been run twice. Carl Edwards won the inaugural Dickies 500 back in 2005, while Tony Stewart was the race winner last year. Stewart is always a contender to lead the pack in every race, but so far this season all he seems to have found is bad luck. If the 13th running of the Samsung 500 proves to be the same as the first 12 (another first-time winner takes the checkered flag), Johnson looks like the best pick to do it. Johnson already has back-to-back wins this season and the way his car has been running this season he could be the man to beat at every race in the 2007 NASCAR schedule. He is the reigning Nextel champion for a reason after all. Johnson may not have a victory under his belt at Texas, but he has had some success there. At last year?s Dickies 500 Johnson finished right behind Stewart in second place, while he logged a third-place finish in the Samsung 500 back in 2005. Also keep your eye on Gordon in this race. The current points leader is also looking for his first career win at Texas, but he has also raced well there with four Top 5 finishes during his career. W ciągu meczu(7 ip.) uzyskał aż 8 SO, stracił zaledwie 2 bazy i jeden punkt.
